Nelly Macharia, MD - Owner
With over a decade of experience as a hospitalist, Dr. Nelly brings both medical expertise and heartfelt commitment to her role at Assisting Hands Home Care. Licensed in Family Medicine, she has dedicated her career to caring for seniors with the compassion, dignity, and respect they deserve.
During her years in the hospital setting, Dr. Nelly witnessed firsthand the challenges seniors face after discharge—many of which are preventable. From falls and medication errors to the deep impacts of loneliness, she recognized a pressing need: personalized, high-quality care delivered in the comfort of home.
Driven by her passion to help seniors age gracefully and safely at home, Dr. Nelly champions home care as a powerful way to prevent unnecessary hospital visits, reduce exposure to infections, and promote meaningful, independent living. Her approach is holistic, blending clinical knowledge with an understanding of the emotional and social factors that contribute to senior well-being.
In addition to her medical work, Dr. Nelly also serves on the Advisory Board of the Harrisburg Town Heritage Committee, reflecting her deep ties to the community and commitment to service beyond the clinic.

Patrick Wanyinyi - Owner
With over 15 years of experience in banking and finance, specializing in process and data management, Patrick brings a strong operational mindset and a customer-first approach to his role at Assisting Hands. His expertise in streamlining systems and building reliable processes ensures that every client receives consistent, high-quality care from the very first interaction through to ongoing support.
Patrick’s transition into the home care industry was driven by a deep-rooted passion for helping people and a commitment to excellence. He understands that behind every process is a person who deserves dignity, respect, and dependable service. His mission is to create a seamless care experience for both clients and their families—one that is thoughtful, responsive, and built on trust.
As someone who believes in the power of teamwork and community, Patrick applies the same dedication to his professional life as he does to his personal one. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and coaching his son’s soccer team, where he continues to nurture growth, leadership, and a spirit of care.
